Submission of Manuscripts:

Manuscripts should be submitted online to SVU-International journal for evaluation and possible publication through the journal website https://svu.journals.ekb.eg/.

A title page including the author names and affiliation must be submitted in a separate word file during the online submission process.  Author(s) name(s) must start with the given name then the family name (The first letter of the second name may be used between initial and family names; Jan G. Hengstler) and named must be followed by the affiliation of each author.

Submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using plagiarism checker software (iThenticate):

 

Publication Fees:

Publication in this journal is totally FREE. SVU-IJVS requires neither submission charges nor article processing charges (APCs).

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, author(s) is/are required to check off the submission's compliance with all the following guidelines, and any submission that does not adhere to these guidelines will be returned to author(s).

  • The submission has not been previously published except in from of abstract or thesis.
  • The submission has not submitted or under consideration for publication elsewhere in the current time of submission.
  • All authors approved the submission.
  • Ethical approval was obtained for animals used in the study.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Guide for Authors.

Ethical Approval

In case of using a live experimental animal; the author(s) should clarify in the methodology that adequate measures were taken to minimize pain or discomfort. Experiments should be carried out in accordance with the Guidelines laid down by the International Animal Ethics Committee and in accordance with local laws and regulations. A statement of ethical committee approval should be included in the methodology. Failure of the authors to provide a concern for animal ethical matter is one of the causes of paper rejection.

Type of papers:

The following types of papers are considered for publication in the SVU-IJVS:

1.   Original research articles.

2.   Review articles.

3.   Short communications.

4.   Case reports.

5-   Editorial letter whenever required.

Manuscript:

All submitted manuscripts should be in Microsoft Word format (DOC).  The submission form and title page should be sent using the online submission. For original research papers, text should be organized into following sections: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and References. For case reports, text should be organized as follows: Introduction, Case Details, Discussion, Acknowledgment, References, Figure legends, and Tables. Review articles should be organized as: Introduction and then the rest of the article may be appropriately subdivided according to the authors' choice. Because short communications are brief, Results and Discussion sections should be combined in one section as "Results and Discussion". In all cases of submission, the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s) should not be included in the text but in a separate word file (Title page).

Review Process:

All manuscripts are reviewed by members of the Editorial Board and by qualified external reviewers from Egyptian or international universities outside Egypt. Decision is made, and the journal returns reviewers’ comments to authors as soon as possible. Upon acceptance, the accepted manuscript will be published online as soon as production process is finalized.

Manuscript Format:

-  Manuscript must be typed in font size 12 (Times New Roman).

- Manuscript should be written on A4 (210 × 297 mm) paper, Double-spaced and with margins of 2.5 cm.

- Justification should be set to full

- Double-spaced throughout, including the Reference section.

- All pages must be numbered consecutively and start with "1".

- Manuscripts should only be submitted in English.

  • Title Page:

Title page should be submitted in a separate word file and have the following: (a) the title of the paper, (b) author’s name(s), (c) author’s affiliation(s): institution(s) and postal address(es), and (d) name and e-mail address of the corresponding author. Superscript numbers should be used to link author(s) with an institution(s), and an asterisk (*) should be used to refer to the corresponding author who takes primary responsibility for communication with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process.

  • Abstract: 

The abstract should not exceed 500 words and must be free of references and abbreviations. It should indicate clearly the scope and main conclusion(s) of the manuscript. The abstract should be followed by 3-5 key words. 

  • Introduction: 

The introduction should provide a clear statement of the problem and the reason for investigation. Statements should be fully supported by proper references. Although the introduction should be concise, it should be useful not only to those who are very familiar with the topic of the paper but also to non-experts.

  • Materials and Methods:

Procedures described in the paper should have enough details to enable other experimenters to be able to replicate the findings. However, citation to the earlier methods should be used whenever possible. Any important modifications of previously published procedures should be mentioned clearly. For instruments and chemicals, capitalize trade names and include the manufacturer's full name and address. Subheadings should be used.

  • Ethical Approval: 

Ethical approval must be provided (whenever possible) at the end of the Materials and Methods section.

  • Results:

Results should be presented with clarity and precision. The results should describe findings in the authors' experiments. The Results section may include subheadings. 

  • Discussion: 

Discussion should mainly focus on interpreting the findings of the results that obtained in the current study. Also, comparisons to the past studies on that topic should me made wherever appropriate. Statements made should be adequately referenced. State the main conclusions and/or summary in a few sentences at the end of the paper followed by recommendations. 

  • Acknowledgments:

 Any acknowledgments to people, grants, funds, etc, if required, should be in brief and should be included in a separate headed section at the end of the manuscript but before the reference section.

  • Conflict of interest: 

At the end and under a subheading "Conflict of interest", all authors are required to certify whether there are any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could influence or bias their work. If no conflicts of interest exist, this should be stated as "The author(s) declare(s) that there is no conflict of interest".

  • Tables:

Number all the Tables in the order of their citation in the manuscript. Include a title for each table. All Tables should be included at the end of the manuscript following the References, and each table in a separate page. Footnotes of the tables should be indicated by superscripted asterisks for significance values. Each table should contain caption (title) located above the table describing its data content.

  • Figures: 

Figures should be in JPG format at least 300dpi. Figures should be prepared with width either 8 or 16 cm and length not more than 20 cm. Figures and graphics should be made using applications that generate high resolution images. Figures should be uploaded separately during the submission process. The Figure's legend should be written at the end of the manuscript and should include enough description so that the Figure can be understood without having to read the text of the manuscript. Number all the Figures (graphs, charts, photographs, and illustrations) in the order of their citation in the text. Figure parts should be denoted by lowercase letters (a, b, c, …). Micrographs should contain scale bars.

  • Abbreviations, Units, etc.: 

Authors should follow internationally agreed conventions while abbreviating various terms.

Abbreviation in the manuscript should be defined in the first mention and used consistently thereafter.

  • References: 

a. In the text,

-       References should follow the Harvard system (author, date).

-       The author name (Family name) is followed by the year of publication (Mackie, 2017). 

-       If 2 authors separate between them by and (Ahmed and Mackie, 2018)

-       In case of more than 2 authors use et al., after the 1st author (Ahmed et al., 2017).

-       In the case that an author cited has had two or more works published during the same year, the citation, both in the text and in the reference list, should be identified by lower case letters like ’a‘ and ’b‘ after the date to distinguish various works from the same author. Examples (Chukwura, 1987a,b).

b. Reference list

-       The list of references appears at the end of the manuscript and gives the full details of all used sources.

-       All sources must be referred in a consistent manner.

-       The list should be alphabetized by the last name of first author.

-       The details in the references must include the following information:

  • Journal article

-       Author’s Surname, Initial

-       Publication Year

-       Article Title

-       Name of Journal (full name with no abbreviation)

-       Volume

-       Starting Pages

-       Ending Pages

SVU-IJVS is published freely online, and authors will have free electronic access to the full text (PDF) of the articles. Authors can freely download PDF file from which they can print unlimited copies of their articles.
